"Our father passed away about a year ago, and there have been some strange things happening in the night," said Breen, of Boston, as she waited in line for a tarot card reading. She came to the fair with her sister, Patty Breen of Caledonia, Livingston County. "We're hearing glasses breaking; the lights are flickering. We think Dad might be around."

TO BELIEVERS, he is one of Britain's most brilliant mediums. To sceptics, he performs little more than an intriguing sideshow.
What cannot be denied is that Scots psychic Gordon Smith is a rising star. His latest book hit the number two spot on Amazon.com, and he recently appeared in a BBC documentary in which he stunned a crowd by reeling off apparently accurate names and details of bereavements to strangers.
But Smith - dubbed the 'Beckham of mediums' - has decided it is time to turn his back on TV celebrity. Last night he launched a stinging attack on television bosses for trying to turn him into little more than a performer. feature article here

1. A TV demonstration is 'fixed'
Many viewers of a recent Discovery Channel programme, previewed in a Guardian article, where the claims of Natasha Demkina, a 17-year-old Russian girl who says she is able to "look deep inside people's bodies, watch their organs at work and spot when things are going wrong", were investigated, ended up with a strong impression that the main test in the investigation had been deliberately set up with a view to ensuring that she would fail it. ...full story about the article shown below

But less typically, Natasha claims she possesses an unusual gift. She can, she says, look deep inside people's bodies, watch their organs at work and spot when things are going wrong....more
